About the Artist
I hate doing the typical about the artist page! "Hi My name is Cammy I am 32 and I live
in Newfoundland Canada...". You've heard it all before. So, let me tell you a little bit
about my path and how I came to be here, designing jewelry, and loving life. I wasn't
always on this path. Many many years ago I set my feet upon a path which led away from
jewelry making, I think I was all of 14 at the time! I had a love of gemstones, and many
people assumed I would just go into jewelry making... unfortunately I made a choice which
would lead me away from that for nearly two decades! I have done retail sales and
management positions, waitressed, and then did two years of mechanical engineering, during
which time I also worked for Corel corporation testing graphics software. I got married,
had children, and my path changed again. Focus was now on family, although I did manage
to complete a degree in Natural Health Sciences. As the family was about to move to Goose Bay Labrador, I took up jewelry making as a way to pass
time. At first it was low grade glass beads, and craft wire, but I soon graduated to
semi-precious gemstones and was hooked. I am glad that I never looked back. Funny how
life seems to lead you back to the path you were always meant to be on, even when you make
certain choices that temporarily lead you away. Right now, I am developing my DreamPath
jewelry line, and believe that I am finally getting things just right! I follow my heart,
and let inspiration lead me, and enjoy what I am doing. I hope to never stop learning,
creating and listening to my heart, and hope that you enjoy my creations! Most recently I became a juried member of the International Guild of Wire Jewelry Artists, of which I am also the Secretary. Finally, I would like to thank such artists as Eni Oken, DK Heath (aka Remy), Linda "Sorcie" Smith, Nancy Fortenberry Pres of IGWJA, the entire crew of the Creative Wire Jewelry forum, and finally Melissa Murphy of Labrador Crystal creations. No one person is an island and I can honestly say I would not be here today without the help, mentoring, and friendship of the above mentioned (and inevitably unmentioned as well!).
About BeJigged Jewelry
I am sure some of you are wondering just exactly what BeJigged
is.... so I thought I would help you out! A Jig is a lively Irish
dance. I danced in a Winnipeg Irish dance troupe for many years,
and still remember many of the old steps. When I got into wire
work, I found it amusing that the tool I was using to create my
wire "knots" was called a jig. A year or so ago, I became more
and more interested in Celtic art, and found a lovely site by
artist Cari Buziak. Aon-Celtic has fabulous tutorials on how to
create Celtic knots. So when I began my business, and was in the
process of finding a name, I connected the dots, and crossed
bejeweled with jig, to get BeJigged... a creative way of making
jewelry that is lively and fun! Eventually, I hope to make more
Celtic inspired pieces... For now though, I love the uniqueness
of my company name, and hope that one day BeJigged will be a
common word in the English language!
For those of you tuning in from Gander, NL, the correct answer to the question "What does BeJigged mean?" would be a cross of bejewelled and a Jig! Good luck on the Draw for a 50$ gift certificate to BeJigged!
